I do personally feel that we should all agree not to be sexual in public. It’s not about arbitrary standards of decency. It’s not just about kids. It’s about other people – including adults — getting to choose to not be in a sexualized space. It’s a consent thing.
Wearing an item of jewellery or clothing on your neck isn’t inherently sexual. Walking on a leash is clearly a kinked activity. It can also be mistaken for abuse, which can be distressing for onlookers. Wearing sexual slogans on your clothes also sexualizes the space and is disrespectful to people around.
Keep in mind that people, even those who are aware of and supportive of bdsm, have a right not to be in a sexualized space when they’re just going about their life. For some, not having that choice is traumatic.
